Message from the Synod President

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It is with great joy and gratitude that I welcome you to the official website of the South West Bethel Synod (SWBS) of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY). As a synod called to serve in such a time as this, we remain committed to preaching the Gospel, nurturing believers, and transforming communities through the power of Christ.

SWBS exists to glorify God by strengthening congregations, training servant leaders, expanding mission outreach, and promoting holistic development across the diverse regions we serve.

Despite many challenges, including financial and infrastructural limitations, we continue to witness the faithfulness of God through the growing number of congregations, evangelistic efforts, and dedicated ministers.

One of our core priorities is theological education and leadership development. We believe that equipping the next generation of pastors and evangelists is essential for the future of the Church. Through Charles Haspels Seminary and various local training programs, we are preparing faithful servants to carry the light of the Gospel to all corners of our synod.

Our synod also works tirelessly to translate liturgical materials and the Bible into local languages to ensure that all believers can worship and grow in faith in their mother tongue.

We are grateful for our local congregations, partners in mission, and international friends who walk with us in prayer, solidarity, and support. Together, we press forward in faith, knowing that “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” (Matthew 9:37).
