Doctrine

  1. The Synod affirms its faith by following the foundational teachings of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, believing that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the holy Word of God and the only infallible source for the faith and order of the Church. 2. The Synod follows the ancient creeds prepared and accepted by the early Church, including the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. 3. The Synod accepts “The Unaltered Augsburg Confession” and “Luther’s Catechisms” — prepared by the reformers — as clear and faithful expositions of the Word of God.
