Proclaiming the Word of God:

At the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus South West Bethel Synod (EECMY SWBS), our foremost calling is to share the life-changing message of the Holy Scriptures with every member of our community. Rooted firmly in the authority of the Old and New Testaments, which we believe to be the inspired, error-free Word of God, our church is dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel with clarity, faithfulness, and love.

The Foundation of Our Ministry

Our Synod’s faith is grounded in the historic creeds of the Church—the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed—alongside the teachings of the Reformers as reflected in the Augsburg Confession and Luther’s Catechisms. These foundational documents guide our understanding and interpretation of the Bible, ensuring that our preaching is theologically sound and faithful to God’s revealed truth.

This strong theological foundation shapes every aspect of our ministry. We believe that preaching the Word is not just about delivering sermons; it is about nurturing a vibrant faith community that lives out the Gospel in everyday life.

Reaching Every Corner of Our Region

The South West Bethel Synod’s mission extends across the Bench Sheko, Kaffa, Sheka, and West Omo zones, where we reach out to diverse populations—urban and rural, young and old, new believers and seasoned Christians. Our pastors and evangelists are deeply committed to teaching the Bible in ways that are accessible, relevant, and transformative.

Through regular worship services, Bible study groups, youth programs, and outreach events, we bring the message of salvation and God’s grace to individuals and families. Our goal is to help people encounter the living Christ and grow in their relationship with Him.

Building Faith That Transforms Lives

Preaching the Bible is at the core of our Synod’s mission because it is through God’s Word that lives are changed, communities are healed, and hope is restored. We see Scripture as the lamp that guides our path, the truth that sets us free, and the source of comfort and encouragement in times of challenge.

Our ministry is not confined to words alone but is expressed in action—empowering local congregations to live out the values of compassion, justice, and integrity. By faithfully preaching the Bible, we equip believers to be witnesses of Christ’s love in their homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods.

Committed to Theological Soundness and Unity

The EECMY SWBS is committed to theological soundness and moral accountability in all we do. We hold firmly to the Bible as the sole and supreme authority for faith and practice, ensuring that our teaching remains consistent and trustworthy.

Moreover, we embrace the principle of “Unity in Diversity,” welcoming all who seek to know God and grow in faith. Our ministry encourages inclusiveness, fostering a church community that reflects the rich diversity of the people we serve.

Join Us in Proclaiming God’s Word

As we continue to preach the Bible across our region, we invite everyone to join us in this vital mission. Whether through participation in worship, Bible study, or community outreach, there are many ways to engage with the life-giving message of Scripture.

Together, under God’s guidance, the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus South West Bethel Synod is committed to nurturing a faith that transforms hearts and communities, bringing hope and salvation to all.
